TI is falling behind as a foundry. SUN needs to partner with Motorola, IBM, AMD, or Intel. Otherwise SUN workstations and servers will fall too far behind in performance.

IBM and Intel products compete too directly with SUN for any such partnership to be tenable. AMD's may not now, but will soon.

I think Motorola would be the best FAB partner for SUN. If Motorola were producing both Power PC chips for Apple and Sparc chips for SUN they'd have a larger production base to spread their fixed costs over.
