Globe/Reuters say Husky COO Blair makes surprise exit
Husky Energy Inc HSE

The Globe and Mail reports in its Tuesday, Dec. 11, edition that Husky Energy's veteran chief operating officer is leaving Canada's fifth-largest integrated oil firm, but Husky said Monday the surprise move had nothing to do with recent takeover speculation. A Reuters News Agency dispatch to The Globe reports that Jamie Blair, who has been prominent as the oil producer, refiner and gasoline marketer's public face to analysts and investors since it went public in late 2000, said he would resign effective Jan. 1. The Calgary-based company said it had yet to find a replacement for Mr. Blair, who has been with Husky -- majority-owned by interests controlled by Hong Kong billionaire Li Ka-shing -- for more than two decades. "Jamie's determination to get the job done and his ability with people has been important to Husky's success," Husky chief executive officer John Lau said. Husky Energy stock closed unchanged at $16.40 on the Toronto Stock Exchange Monday. The stock has a 52-week trading range of $20.95 to $13.10.
