Yes, such stories are far from unique in Indian spirituality. For a moving portrait of this tradition I highly recommend The Initiation by Donald Schnell, a.k.a., Prema Baba Swamiji. See amazon.com for details.

Swamiji's encounters with Babaji, the "Deathless Avatar" are particularly moving, as is his portrait of a land awash in deep spirituality.

Rising Higher......

>>>>"No other figure in world history is recorded to have died and later appeared on this earth after death to living, breathing human beings">>>>

>>Sorry, Frederick, but from my own experience (in this lifetime), that just is flat UNTRUE.>>

I agree with you and stand corrected!

The essence of my statement boiled down to ONE God. Period.

That others have appeared or do appear physically or spiirtually does not make them Gods. For we are ALL representatives, if we humble ourselves to eliminate all other claims, of the ONE truth from our ONE Lord God in Heaven.

I, too, have friends who have born witness to the same phenomena. The "gentleman with the numbers", for example, has experienced "the Divine Encounter" with the Lord Jesus Christ Himself and has met with Emanuel Swedenborg at least a few times.

I really don't think spiritual encounters are all that out of the ordinary.

But getting back to Jesus Christ, the important aspect is that he was born of a virgin birth. His Human was transformed into being conjunctively part of the Divine itself on the day of Glorification. And it was this package - perfection - that appeared on those on the road to E, to the disciples, even doubting Thomas.

>>The value of Jesus, in my view, is in what he taught and what he LIVED.>>

The value of Jesus was not just in what he taught and what he lived, but that He was God Himself. As THE Son of our ONE God his Human was "the effect" which radiates from ONE spiritual "cause" which emmanates from the ONE End which is God.

>>And the same could be said of all the great teachers from time immemorial to this day.>>

All the great teachers throughout history are representatives of the same ONE truth from the same ONE Lord God in Heaven.

All of these individuals are connected in ONE way: through the infinite cause of Love.

>>It is time to abandon the elitism of claiming that our Path is the "one and only" and that everybody else is misguided.
It's just a "religionized" version of a pi**ing match, and has about as much significance.>>

I'm not implying that anyone else is misguided. Quite the contrary, I am simply affirming the complete perfect unity and ONEness of this Royal Highway of light, energy and Love that connects every individual spirit together in the same selfless cause which is the pursuit and sharing of ONE thing: LOVE.

Peace.

Light!

ONE - LOVE!

GO!!
