Tom I don't excuse even what I consider well established, even if I don't consider that list to be quite as long as what you post. However you said that Sharon ordered it to happen. That has definitly not been established. I didn't start talking about this arguing anything postive about Sharon, I don't exactly admire the man, what I did was respond to a specific innacuracy in one of your posts.

"Heck, Prime Minister Sharon himself ordered the slaughter of 1500 Palestinians."

Thomas, your insinuations may or may not be right, but there was an Israeli investigation of the event, they stated "he should have known" and thus had to resign form his then post of Defense Minister (which he did). And then there was a libel trial in the US, in which none of your allegations were proven. There might be other opportunities, but taking the "report" of an eye witness without the "defense attorney" questioning the veracity of this testimony, is trial by "fabricated public opinion". As for the SLA leaders, it is my understanding that a number of them have been jailed and executed in the last year after their trials in Lebanon, and as far as I know, none quoted Sharon as "giving the order". We sure would have heard of it loud and clear if that allegation had any basis. It looks to me that the Israeli where using the "Phalangist" in a manner similar to the way we are using the Northern Alliance in Afghanistan, and we have seen the massacre in Mazar E Sharif, and no one is blaming Bush for it (he "should" have known that the Northern AllianceTajiks and Uzbeks and the Pushtun Talibans had a long lasting blood feud between them just as the Christian and Palestinians had in Lebanon, in both cases due to earlier mutual massacres).
