Iso ..OT.

Do you have any good recs for "fundamentals of the market place" type books or similar? I need all the help I can get.

Besides it is a long winter here and I'm soon to go on vacation. Slider posted a TA read I'm looking into as well, the other day.

TIA.

nspolar. No offense taken. FWIW

think ebb and flow of posts on all threads partially due to how leading themes on that particular thread are faring.

You are right. Patience is very important. OTHO, I try to balance that with well placed mental stops (on most of my positions) to protect at least a minimal profit level or cut a loss quickly while it's small.

Another thing about the core group on this thread who've been through both thread and market wars together,<G> we have great respect for eachothers varying styles and analysis specialties. For example, Roebear is one of our best ST traders. So his swing from heavily long to high cash levels will have more amplitude in both directions than my longer short to intermediate holding period style, yada yada. Slider, Frank, Roebear and many others here with different analysis specialities and trading styles have come up with an endless parade of ideas I'd never have thought of. And have also started me thinking in directions I'd not otherwise have pursued resulting in important ideas of my own. So IMHO, the brainstorming that goes on here is absolutely outstanding!

Bottom line, if we're clued in on your trading style, and plan nobody is gonna to trash talk you for sticking to it. Also, we're very above board here. Very ST trades can be over so quick that it's impossible to post them in a timely manner. But most of us post buys and sells - within a day or so - that we hope to hold for weeks or months, out of courtesy to our peers on the thread.

AFA golds right now - or anything else for that matter? If you're uncomfortable staying long and prefer to stand aside till the dust settles vs hang with core positions, that's cool. We usually just make a brief post on exits, like Roebear recently did. It provides all threadsters the courtesy of disclosure, plus establish your own "real time" trading record here. And don't worry NONE of us are perfect on that score<lol>

Glad to see you joined SI. Let's see if we can entice WMDEE over here, from Yahoo. Very savvy industry guy and an excellent trader to boot.

Best regards,
