Man indicted on conspiracy charges over Sept 11

A French Moroccan has been indicted on multiple conspiracy charges in connection with the US terror attacks.

The man has been detained in the terrorism investigation since raising suspicions by seeking flight lessons a month before the attacks, officials said.

The officials said Zacarias Moussaoui has been charged with multiple conspiracy counts.

They said other unindicted co-conspirators have also been identified by a grand jury.

Attorney General John Ashcroft is expected to give more details later.

Moussaoui was detained on August 17 on immigration charges after officials at a Minnesota flight school, where he sought training, grew suspicious and called authorities.

He has been held as a material witness in the investigation of the terrorist attacks.

Story filed: 17:33 Tuesday 11th December 2001
