They want UN to be around!! What an irony? Those who give no rights to others want themselves to be protected by all possible governing set of laws on safe passage or possible clemency from long reach of justice. A spokesman for US-backed Afghan commander Haji Hazrat Ali said negotiations were going on with bin Laden's al-Qaeda leaders, who had set conditions for giving up. Spokesman Amin said they were insisting on surrendering only to United Nations officials in the presence of diplomats from Saudi Arabia and other countries. I fail to understnad why it is good for million of Afghans to die for a cause and not good for them to be equally enthusisatic in getting obliterated by huge bombs. This whole concept of heaven and great life after death promised to these suicide bombers is nothing but 'big doses of injected mental opium for uneducated minds, the 'Shieks and Omars of the wordl know it well how to deliver it. The leadership are coward and has no 'courage of conviction' nor conscience.

US bombers continue to blast Osama bin Laden's fighters in the eastern Afghan mountains Wednesday after they failed to meet a deadline to surrender or be killed.

"Haji Hazrat Ali told us 10 minutes ago that they have said they will not surrender before him or commander Haji Zaman. The commanders are holding a meeting to decide the next step," Amin said. He said, "maybe they will surrender in the next couple of hours," adding: "If they don't do so we will kill them."
