That might be a little overkill on the ram but what the heck. Are you sure your system will support that much? You probably only have three memory slots so you are wasting the 64 you already have installed. Of course, you could always give it to someone or stick it in another machine.

How much memory is needed/wanted. My new dell box, 4300 series, has 256 memory. I see from the crucial site that another 256 would be $38, and another 512 would be $71. WOW. for $38 bucks its like a no-brainer, the 4300 has two memory slots, one of which is filled with the existing 256. so obviously, another 256 stick would go in the other. if i got the 512 stick, could it go in the empty slot, or is it better to have the bigger stick in the first slot? or doesn't matter any more. tia. larry
