I think you are backpedaling, but in the right direction. There is, indeed, a difference between the conduct of business and other contexts, and I might restrict myself to "Happy Holidays" too. But I wonder why it should be implied that "Merry Christmas" is so offensive there needs to be an advisory on it? If I lived in a predominantly Muslim country, I would take it for granted that most people would reflect Muslim customs. Most people in this country are Christian or "culturally Christian", so they say "Merry Christmas". It is unreasonable to be offended......
