Many people have trouble with math until the numbers have dollar signs in front of them and the dollars are ones they earned.

Judging from my own childhood and after raising two sons, I'd say trying to teach finance in high school would be fruitless. As some wise person once said: Don't try to teach a pig to sing. It wastes your time and annoys the pig.

grace, your point is valid. however, the same argument can be used against math or english lit. ;-)

i say put it in the schools and then make the students responsible. sure, many won't get it. but i think we will improve vs where we are now.

picking one's parents well is a skill that can dramatically increase one's success in all aspects of life, including financial. too bad most folks aren better at it... ;-)
