After all, ten pounds is an infinitesimal amount compared to the total weight of the earth, so no worries. That's because your weight is an infinitesimal amount compared to the total weight of the earth. The % of the earth covered by forest is not an infinitesimal part of the earth's land surface. I actually agree with Thomas M and you that a better measurement would be the % of forest lost, I'm just making the point that measuring it by % of the earth covered by forest does not create a great distortion. Lomborg could have been more precise but what he says on this does more or less accurately reflect reality. Tim
