dear baldy, there is only one arms race danger. That is that some nuts will accelerate their attempt to take over a a missile and launch at the US before the US has the ability to defend itself.

There is no other country that can come close to the US technology and the US and no other country can come up with a system that could stop a massive nuclear attack. The proffer for the race is strategically bogus.

I think it very likely that the actions Bush takes will cause China to build missles, enough to overwhelm a defense. They then may use them against Tiawan and we will be caught with enough of a defense to provoke but not enough to prevent the destruction of the island. The best we can hope for is that the very expensive defense system just sits idle.
