MZ - I have long found it discouraging that we (even researchers) believe what we want to believe. Because of that human failing, I always find it compelling when someone changes their opinion after seeing that data/results/research.

I will never forget a prominent St. Louis Judge who had been educated at Harvard. He came to the bench believing that we could rehabilitate criminals. He worked hard for many years to rehabilitate criminals and getting laws changed to support that effort. After many years on the bench he he wrote an article for the Missouri Bar Journal and admitted that the effort was a failure and argued that rehabilitation did not work in practice no matter how fine it appeared in theory.
