Caxton: That's 50 million subs in 5 years, which is conservative

Really? I was giving you "operating at full capacity" numbers!

"The capacity for the first phase of the CDMA network project will be 15 million users, while the second phase is designed for 20 million users. By 2003, the total capacity is expected to reach 50 million users. "

"$100 phones which is very conservative"

Actually, IJ stated that they were shooting for a "Sub-$100 1X" phone for the Latin American market using Q Chips.. How much cheaper will those same phones be made in China vs. Korea? Stop by CostCo and check out those $55 Chinese 4 head VHS VCR's next time you are in there!

You know.. I remember when Motorola StarTac's sold for over $600.. Can you believe that? Those were the Good Ole' Days.

Last time I checked there were 8 manufactures and JV's in China to supply phones for this system..

So lets say 80 million phones over the next 5 years! And we will say that NO PHONES from non Chinese Manufactures are sold. You divide that over 5 years and 8 manufactures... That's 2 million phones per manufactuer per year! 167,000 phones a month.. So the price competition is going to be intense.

As far as the ALL of the chips that will be bought from Qualcomm.. Better to count one's chicken's after they hatch. With the kind of intense price competition that these Chinese Manufactures will be subject to.. They will be on a new Asic (Chinese made) at first time the can save a "buck a chip". Let alone $5 or $10.

Heck.. Most states in the US make more money on every phone sold using Qualcomm technology in Sales Tax, than Qualcomm makes in the Chinese Deal.
