Slacker,

I don't either. Verizon is a tough network to qualify on.

They insist on (need) "tri-mode", They insist on "send SMS". It is a comnbination of 3 networks with a lot of poorly documented AMPS stuff dating back to BAM and NYNEX days. Verizon has spent a boatload trying to achieve interoperability on the 3 networks. Samsung has never qualified a tri-mode or any other handset on the combined networks and has purportedly been trying to qualify a 1xRTT model for several months. I believe they initially tried to qualify a "tri-mode" IS-95 handset back when the networks were combined and gave up. Audiovox and Motorola were first to qualify. It took some time thereafter for Kyocera (Qualcomm branded) handsets to qualify even though Qualcomm had several "dual-mode" (AMPS & CDMA 850) sets qualified for the regional single rate plans very early on (1st was QCP860).

The WR Hambrecht analyst visited 30 wireless stores in the Bay area to get a gauge of how wireless sales were going.

His take....PCS is doing very well, Verizon and AWE are doing ok, while Cingular is in trouble.
