I think it is a bit ironic that the depreciation schedules are being adjusted for computers and software. I could be wrong, but I seem to recall the schedules being lengthened a couple years ago to enable purchases to be spread over a longer time period for budgeting.

I always thought computers should be depreciated over 1-year. They should be written off just like copy machine paper. Software maybe should get 2-years. For all practical purposes, they should both be considered "office supplies" if under $1000 or so. Heck, as soon as they receive your warranty card, the prices drop and you've already lost 50%.

It always comes back to fundamentals my friend. It can run but it can't hide. I'm afraid that 2002 will be the toughest recession year.
