it's Fibre Channel. capitalized. somebody who's such a stickler for spelling and punctuation should be familiar with these things. just for that i get three free "Buffet"s.

Me a stickler on punctuation and spelling? It's just that difference between standing in a line for an all-you-can-eat buffet and the family name of Mr. Warren Buffett that always gets me - especially since his name is easier to spell than Benjamin Graham and is quite well known at this point in time. In fact there is an easy formula which is much quicker to run than a DCF. It goes like this: (2 "r's, 2 "f's" and 2 "t's"). Speaking of Benjamin Graham, do you pronounce that "h" between the two "a's" so it sounds like Graaaa.....haaaaam with two vowel sounds, or do you drop the "h" and pronounce it with only one vowel sound so it sounds like Graaaam? Personally, I like the double vowel sound with the "h" used between the vowels when I say it.

Okay, so you nailed me on the protocol known as Fibre Channel not being fibre channel, but based on the lack of capitalization in your above sentences - it should not have thrown you for a loop. ;-) Hopefully my use of gigabit ethernet and not Gigabit Ethernet didn't ruffle too many feathers.

GE's earnings will benefit from the goodwill adjustment, but will be hurt by the pension adjustment. buffet wrote an interesting article not long ago on how pension-return estimates have changed over the years. posted on this thread, as i recall.

Yes, I believe it was posted here on the "buffet of gorilla game investing" all-you-can-eat salad bar. I guess we shall see how General Electric is able to grow their earnings and strengthen their global businesses as time marches on into the future.

i figured you would try to lure me out...but the cave reference touches a bit too close to the OBL leitmotif 4 my taste.

Not to worry, the Elliot Wavers have the end of a 36 year cycle complete with full moons and a scenario that the Big Kahuna is a coming. I already read a kaddish prepared by an Elliot Wave forecaster to honor those who will lose everything.

P.S. Remember, it's always 2 "r's", 2 "f's" and 2 "t's" when speaking of Warren Buffett. You can always alter that formula slightly to read 2 "m's", 2 "f's" and 2 "t's" if you want to refer to Jimmy Buffett.
