You and people the world over say it is our responsibility, but then when we do step in, you condemn us for being so involved in world matters. You can't have it both ways.... You misconstrued my politics... You Yanks nourish such an erroneous world-view indeed. You talk as if the United States of America was kind of an autarchy, with virtually no relations with other countries/continents whatsoever! Perhaps you even --foolishly-- entertain the notion that you don't even need other countries/peoples to sustain your way of life... BIG BLUNDER! Time for you guys to get back on earth --you don't live on some other planet, do you? And, while most average Americans --the so-called Joe Six-Packs-- don't meddle in foreign countries/conflicts --how could they, after all?-- your corporations, banks, military, and intelligence outfits DO, whether openly or covertly. Hence my retort: You Yanks can't have it both ways, throwing your weight around, bullying your trade partners, sermonizing the world economy's dunces (Russia, Indonesia, Argentina,...) while, at the same time, scooping the planet's pool and rolling in it! Now, don't get me wrong: I personally do support a larger involvement of the US abroad --for the sake of the developing countries themselves. That's why I welcome the impending extension of the war against terrorism into Somalia and Sudan. I can even share with you my wish list of all the countries that might benefit from the US's anti-Al-Qaeda actions: Ruanda, Burundi, Dem. Rep. of Congo, Central Rep. of Africa, Congo-Brazzaville, Gabon, Cameroon, Senegal, Nigeria, Ivory Coast, Angola, Sierra Leone, you name it! I can even give the US Marines a free tip: beware of terrorists carrying a BELGIAN passport --they are mostly active in the Democratic Rep. of Congo!! (*) Gus.
