I sure do! You discard the experiences that are no longer valid for today's context. Such as we don't draw from the "fact" that the world is flat. Or the Earth don't move and is the center of the universe. All that proved to be erroneous.
It is famous the quote of general always fighting the last war. Meaning that they analyze the last war and prepare to fight it, then the enemy use a novel tactic or weapon and defeat them.

If one waste his time analyzing facts, that for all practical purposes, no longer have any relevance for today's stage that we are in, he will end up barking up the wrong tree.

My suggestion is -what I use for myself- to spend time analyzing what in the past should be discarded (Depression and Marx) since it serves as no guide to clear my views of IS today.
