BWAC:
Send your post exactly as written to Investor Relations at Dell, just the facts. Michael does not approve of promises not kept. Fix may come too late for you, tho.
Yes, Mort has sold many times, both Ally and Dell, but IMO its what he's buying that counts.

T goes for a spin off - $5 bil here, $5 bil there(msft), $20 debt- who says tech investing is dead? There seems to be lots of money floating around.
Its time to be very positive on Dell. They have nearly 5 bill shares in the kitty plus bils$ cash and are making money. Maybe over $100 bil to play with when the time is right.

BWAC,

I don't think orders not shipped from the software and peripherals site of DELL has anything to do with layoffs as you speculate.

Yesterday I cancelled a medium sized order form the small business peripherals site because a few printers I ordered were back-ordered and can't ship until Jan 10th. So Costco, here I come. I think for a camcorder, you're better served at a Best Buy or CompUSA.

Also just ordered another Dimension 8200; second in the past 2 months. Fist one shipped sooner than expected and I expect same with this one. As usual, shopping experience and communication with account rep was exemplary.

Hope your camcorder arrives in time to make Christmas memories!

Kaka

Last April I spent 7K+ on a Dell workstation and 4 17" digital flat panel displays. When I connected the fourth display it would intermittently go dark and come back. To make a long story short, I diagnosed the problem pretty much myself down to a bad connector on the video card, and Dell agreed to send me a new card. Since this was a 4 port Matrox video card and a $700 option, I at least thought I'd get a replacement fairly quickly. Nah, after speaking with about 5 Dell reps (the left arm doesn't know what the right arm is doing), it took over two weeks for the video card to arrive. I gave Dell one more shot and ordered a Dimension for my wife some months later, it was sent back after blue screen errors started appearing. IBM's web site is pretty 'configurable' these days, so I bought her a Netvista after sending the Dell back. It is working fine so far...

Regards,
John
