wbmw, to add to your point, it's nice to have a few billion dollars stashed away to finance such a huge and unprofitable venture that is the Itanium. Do you think it makes financial sense to sink that much money into it? Are the potential rewards large enough to recover all that has been and will be spent on it?

If sales in the hundreds represents "too much momentum to stop" what would constitute disappointing sales?

PS - Itanium - the biggest thing since bubble memory!
