RE:"You sure give Sniffer Stevie a run for his money trying to discredit Intel's and Dell's offerings.
But then again - we never did believe your RETROACTIVE purchase of Intel anyway !!!"

Give it up Dum Dum, I was just wondering why Dell was only offering the DDR unit with up to 512 MB of RAM.

Thanks for looking up the capacity though. Why do you suppose the page I listed only offered 512MB? Maybe they can't get enough or still want to make the RAMBUS units look better?

Jim

Paul, Fry's Sunnyvale PC and notebook check today:

One Athlon 1.3 GHz desktop out of about 25 desktops. I noted Celerons at 900 MHz, 1.1 and 1.2 GHz, a PIII or 2, lots of P4s including 2.0 GHz by Sony and HP. One Athlon and one Duron Notebook out of about 20. Saw one Crusoe (probably the same one you saw a couple of weeks ago). Celerons and PIIIs for everything else.

I understand that AMD has predicted a record quarter in units of processors sold, and that they do well with DIYers, in Germany and some other places. However, are they completely giving up on US retail? The buying public are walking through these stores by the gazillions, especially during the holidays. They're going to forget AMD exists. I guess Jerry and henchmen know what they're doing.
