Earlie,

Happy holidays to you and yours. Welcome back.

What is you definition of Middle America. I am trying to relate your findings to what is going on here in Minnesota.

Thanks in advance,

Joan

Nice to have you back.... interesting observations as usual. Some real nice shorting opportunities out there, I have decided to pick on SPY's and assorted financials. I've decided to sell slowly and not accumulate a full boat till at least mid-end of Jan.

Earlie, Welcome back. We are very happy to see your extremely bullish comments. Are they calling you Abby Jo's love child now? <VBG>

It is amazing, though not at all a new experience (I must be easy to amaze) to watch tech stocks soar above 9/11 levels while the cos. businesses hit the tank. And the tank isn't going to take it much longer. <g>

The entire finance/low interest rate/housing scamarama seems to be near the end of its game. With Fed Funds at 1.68%, there is not much more beef here to be found.

While you were gone, we had a nice discussion here and on the clown thread about Roadway and goods transport in general. My feeling is that you are missing the cost side of the equation. They can hire cheaper, unlicesed drivers to drive the trucks with so many layoffs upon us. And, paying almost nothing for fuel makes the cost side dirt cheap. What does it matter that they have no loads in the trucks? <g>

I have been a bit leery on the long puts side because as soon as they capture Osama or find his body, there will be a huge rally. That day seems to have been postponed indefinitely.

It is amazing how many cell phones are out there when they work for crap. I guess that is the world Bill Gates has given us. It doesn't have to work. It just has to be there. Or was it Kevin Costner in "Field of Dreams?"

So, welcome back to the wonderful, zany world of SI.

housing prices are already softening. there is huge default in corporate debt. there are many big corporate bankruptcies. but, we have turned the corner, already. tech advances will lead to upgrades even where there is unused capacity of three year old tech. that is why semis have rallied.
