I take it you agree that terror groups must be destroyed?

PS I am not Israeli (I was (visited) in Israel once in early 80's)

The United States and European Union called on Palestinian President Yasser Arafat on Saturday to press on with a crackdown on militants despite a decision by some Islamic groups to suspend attacks inside Israel.

European Union Middle East envoy Miguel Angel Moratinos urged the Palestinian Authority to go further and dismantle the Hamas and Islamic Jihad networks whose attacks he said had undermined the Palestinian leadership.

"We hope that these terrorist networks will be eliminated as soon as possible," Moratinos told reporters in Damascus.

You think they killed civilians on purpose to send a message?

Most of the dead and injured were civilians, raising fears that a volatile day of funerals on Saturday could explode into fresh violence

Around 1:20 p.m., the crowd arrived at the police station, where children and teenagers were already throwing stones at the officers inside. Within minutes, shooting erupted on both sides, according to Palestinian journalists at the scene.

"There were homemade stun grenades and smoke grenades," said one journalist, who spoke on condition of anonymity. "There were Palestinian police and security men on the roofs firing down. Most of the injuries were civilians."

Five Palestinians were killed and 55 were hurt in the exchange, doctors said, and a sixth later died of his wounds. At least two others were reported to be severely wounded.
