thanks, does that mean that after 1/1/2002, I can open a Roth IRA with $5000, $2000 for 2001 and $3000 for 2002 ???

My understanding is, I don't get any tax deduction on my tax return this year or next year, but 1) there is no tax consequence on gain or loss and 2) when I withdraw at 59-1/2, I don't have to pay any tax ... is that correct ???
