And what you are conveniently ignoring is that the major Communist nations had an aggressive, militaristic foreign policy. "Live and let live" was hardly part of their vocabulary. The US policy was to prevent them from imposing, through conquest and engineered revolution, their repressive regimes on yet more countries. Now we are engaged in a struggle with a man and group whose publicly stated goal is to slay Americans (and other Westerners as collateral damage) whenever and wherever they can be found. Do you suggest we just surrender, give them the country, and let them kill us?
