"Asking God to help even those who may not at the present believe in him is, I think, a far different thing from intentionally belittling peoples' beliefs."

We are living in a huge, mysterious and awesome Universe. The practical and material mechanisms can partly be understood and engaged through scientific inquiry. The unseen and mysterious however are often overwhelming. What is even more over whelming is the prospect that all entities, seen and unseen forces, and circumstanses are subject to an alpha and omega being.

Something as small as one person's feelings of envy have resulted in the release of unseen and seen forces that have brought cataclysm to the lives of entire generations. Belief in any principle that provides a foundation for human beings to freely associate in a decent manner is deserving of respect and consideration. Respect for and consideration of one anothers beliefs that human beings are bound to decency as an obligation to one another, should be paramount in our existence. The use of mocking terms in the midst of such discussions is destructive to this view. So, when a discussion turns to criticism and debate over such beliefs I bow out.

Have Peace

You said: "And God bless all those who believe in him, and help those who don't." You have divided people into two classes, one of which deserves blessings and one of which is in need of help. This is not belittling?

I, too, have divided people into two classes. One class includes adults who still believe in a Santa-Claus-like entity and everybody else. Those who subscribe to the first group I find, er, corny. Yes, that is belittling.

My question continues to be: what is the difference? Belittle is belittle.
