I am running W2K Pro and have had no trouble in locating the drivers for any peripherals I have. Including a new video card driver.

Plus, it is stable and does not require you to restart as much.

Go with Win2k Pro without a doubt.

Back when I was heavy into trading, Win98 crashed all the charting, trading, etc applications after a while. Plus Win98 just plain crashes because that is what it does best.

Win2k is amazing. I hardly ever reboot. And it handles everything really well. Rock solid.

Win2k, when it first came out, had problems with some drivers and such. But that is same way XP is today. Vendors needed to catch up. It's 2002. Win2k and vendors have had plenty of time to develop. I can't think of any program or peripheral that I used to use or have needed to use that won't run on Win2k.

W2K would be my choice between the two. Much more stable. On the peripherals, you can check at the hardware manufacturer's websites for W2000 drivers.

Why not spring for XP at about the same cost as 2000? It has a compatibility mode that allows you to run specific programs in your choice of operating system modes from Win95 through 2000, plus NT.

All the programs I've used so far work fine in the native XP mode. So I can't really vouch for the feature. I do know that it is easy to implement by right clicking on the program shortcut.
