Patrick, <<<Sing along everyone, you will love this tune!
Taiwan's Hon Hai gets new order from Dell...... is expected to ship a total of 16 million computer motherboards next year, a local newspaper reported on Thursday.>>>

If you don't mind, I'm not going to join you in singing this happy tune.

Dell has refused to cancel part of my order expected before Christmas because they have no control over their Vendor actions. They were only too glad to accept my order and get my credit card information and not tell me the product was not in stock.

As of this morning, this is pasted from their Order Status website wrt my order:

Status as of Thursday, December 27, 2001 10:30:50 AM Central Time.........
Delayed Items........
Currently one or more items are not available. Every effort is being made to complete your order........
Estimated ship date: 12/31/2001
>>>>>

Instead of building an legitimate Order Entry, Fulfillment, and Supply chain management system, they spend their money on phoney hype (eg, obnoxious hardsales TV pitch), dubious accounting practises, and taking the money out of the company to fatten Michael Dell's body and personal coffers.

I know they are not concerned about customers like me, but they should, out of self interest, spend some of their money to build a legitimate company. They could learn how to use computers and teach all their vendors how to use computers thus selling more computers and making themselves more competitive. They could also provide services to other companies and teach them how to use computers.

Instead, Michael Dell is taking the money out and using smoke and mirrors to tell the investment community that all is well.

Investors are paying a high multiple for Dell Stock, but are at risk that Dell could turn into another Enron.

How much is Dell really worth if what they are is only a no value added reseller of other people's goods.

For now, that is all they are. If that is all they want to be, Ebay does a better job.

Mary

Patrick,
Hi!!

RE: biz.yahoo.com

Obviously "sixteen million motherboards" is not your average order... :o)
Making a "guess" I would say that the reps are "seeing" visibility that this economic swoon is about to release some very nice orders from the corporate world...Just a guess now Patrick... :o)
In addition let's not forget this:
