Tactical decisions are always made improvisationally, according to the exigencies of the moment. We supported Iraq, for example, when it was in danger of being over- run by the superior manpower of Iran. That was a legitimate decision, regardless of what happened subsequently. Not all tactical decisions will be good. That is also a given, and one simply learns to live with it. If you want to continue to have drug companies provide the leading edge in research and development of drugs, then some patent protection is inevitable. What is the correct duration? I don't know. It may be time to re- evaluate our policy towards Cuba, since the blockade is ineffective. As for the holidays, so far, so great.....Hope you are having a good one too!
