From Briefing.com: Close Dow +43.17 at 10131.31, S&P +7.76 at 1157.13, Nasdaq +15.72 at 1976.42: A pretty uneventful day in the market today. There was not a whole lot of news or analyst actions. The markets moved higher, but we would not read too much into it as it's a light volume day. It was a good sign to see the Dow and the Nasdaq close strongly after trending down for much of the afternoon. Tech stocks were generally higher led by semiconductors, software, storage. The Semiconductor Index (SOX 530.61 +9.93) did relatively well today. While Merrill Lynch retained its Neutral rating on AMD (AMD 16.12 +0.50), the brokerage firm raised its Q4 estimate. Leading the sector was Atmel (ATML 7.49 +0.87) on an AG Edwards upgrade. CRUS +6%, TQNT +6% also did well. Fuel cell stocks were also very strong...
