I had every right to use sarcasm, satire, ridicule, and pantomine on you. As regards the discussion of the incendiary bombing you were being ignorant, ungracious, insensitive, grotesque, and indecent.

I simply put you on the spot to give you the opportunity to at least acknowledge some sympathy for other human beings--even if you did not go so far as to proffer an apology. I put you on the spot so that your insincerity and your insensitivity would be on the record. Even now, I don't believe you have acknowledged any ethical concerns.

I was creating the opportunity and occasion for you to show a human face (not an AMERICAN face)--just HUMAN--PERIOD; an opportunity to express regret and sorrow if you felt it; sadness if you felt it; or disdain, arrogance, and cockiness if those were the things you felt.

Your response and subsequent responses are on the record, and are there to remind you of the manner in which you responded to this opportunity to express a regret and sorrow that most human beings would consider to be a no brainer.

Now (not surprisingly)--you are simply being a thin-skinned weenie!!<ggg>

Do you have an opinion as to whether that is appropriate?

First of all, I know you didn't ask, but my opinion both on the bombing of Japan and Canadian immigration policy are on the record on this thread. I appreciate your recognizing that I can answer your question independent of my opinion on those subjects.

Regarding whether that shaming device is appropriate for debate on this board, off the top of my head, I don't see why not. It seems a legitimate way of making a point. I'd be willing to listen to arguments that it is not appropriate, though. Perhaps others see something that I don't.

Regarding my being to this, my complaint was not about the appropriateness of the device but by the melodramatic feigning of ignorance of the device. If you guys want to insult each other at nauseam, there's no need to put us all through such contortions.
