Elmer, F-30 ??, sounds like you are describing Intel fabs with large parts with more killed dice on each one, a double whammy.
Now I have my doubts that the variations are as wide as you describe.

No-one said orders of magnitude better.
You get 20-30% better right off the bat from the smaller dice size. That is impossible for Intel to overcome. All the can do is run wide out and try to make enough of the best parts. recent reports indicate they are failing at this and opening a large window for AMD.
This window Intel has opened for AMD is expecially damaging as it allows AMD to make a higher ASP and to play catch up.
