You probably should count not the cost of finished CPU,
but the cost of sorted and partially tested wafers.
Which is probably not more than $20 apiece.

Looks to me like they're stockpiling something.
$49M increase in inventory from 7/1 to 9/30 is something around 1/2M CPUs @ $100 each. How many CPUs do you figure will fit in $449M?


Gee... if someone had a binsplit problem and couldn't sell all their Athlons maybe you'd see an increase in inventory??? Then again it could just as easily be flash.

Considering that AMD doesn't make anything else it has to be one or the other.
