re: short GNSS

not for the contest but yes in real life

the key to shorting one like that is to do it real small and be willing to add another piece 5-15% higher
as a position swing short

I did it on 12/14 at 68.34 and covered 12/24 at 63.80

back short 12/27 at 68.15

an interesting concept is the "reverse Jan effect"

on these high flyers like gnss. nvda, emlx, et al
people long hold them till 1/1 so they can defer the tax gain till the next year
and funds hold them so their books look good on 12/31
plus funds will buy it the last few days of the year to juice performance
also, people who have been short and have a loss cover at year end to book the tax loss

so in the real thin slow days near year end there are fewer sellers than buyers

after the first of the year selling can kick in

this is no way an "easy" guarentee
but a few years back I did a study of like 20-30 stocks that closed the year near the highs
if I remember right, a week into the new year they were down an average of 8%

will be interesting to see if that happens again this year
