Depends on how you define success.

Do these trolly schemes...

Ease traffic on freeways - no.
Cost effective way to move people - no.
Cut down on pollution - no.

Big lever for the social engineers to manipulate the masses - YOU BET!!!!

BAET seems to be a success.

bart.gov

It is also an exception in that regard.

Kenneth...Do you know how many people BART serves each day? And the yearly total? What was the cost to build it? When? And how much does it cost to ride it today?

How many people are estimated to ride rapid transit in the Puget Sound area, if and when it ever comes to be? What was the original cost to be, and now what is the cost projected to be? What was the original area coverage and what has the area covered been reduced to today in the plan?
How was this plan to be paid for?

And one more for the minute....WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO OVER 1 (ONE) BILLION DOLLARS SO FAR IN STUDY, and NOT ONE nail has been pounded into the ground to date for the system?????

You have reminded us very eloquently that Democrats have been elected for 18 years.... Surely, then, THEY would know what has happened to that money....and they can account for ALL of it....Can't they?

BART is a joke.

If you ever read the studies, BART is heavily subsidized and will always be despite projections - and the poor subsidize the "rich" ridership.

Studies show that BART has been largely a failure in other areas where advocates dreamed up benefits, such as economic revitalization.

Studies show buses are far more efficient and economically sound than boondoggles like the BART moneypit.

Worst fears realized - the Dems have enshrined incompetence in airport security Federalization.

As predicted "Federalization" (and unionization) of airport security means - just like with teachers uniuons - that the incompetent get job security and airport security, like education, becomes an afterthought. But that was the Dem plan all along. I'll bet Bush regrets having a Dem transportation chief now:

AIRLINE SECURITY
Rules Will Allow Airport Screeners to Remain in Jobs

By DAVID FIRESTONE

Kevin Moloney for The New York Times

Transportation security officials now say that a year of experience as an airline screener could be a substitute for a high school diploma.

After stoking high expectations that the federal takeover of airport security would lead to a new breed of airport security screener, one who was better educated and more qualified to assume a position of increased responsibility, the Department of Transportation has decided not to impose rules that would displace thousands of current screeners....
nytimes.com

..."The idea is to allow current screeners who would otherwise qualify but may not have high school diplomas to be eligible, so they do not get left behind," said Paul Takemoto, a spokesman for the security administration, which is part of the Department of Transportation....

That's it - the people who were considered incompetent and became the reason for Federalization are staying on - with Federal union protection. If the system had been left in private hands such people could have been and would have been let go.

So the Dems, as with education, swept in and conned the stupid, all the while insuring that the incompetent - their other constituency - will be kept on.

Another Dem victory against America. And thank you too John McCain!
