Thanks for the update. Yes, I am sure there will be plenty of air cover. Of course what good it does I don't know. Firing a missile into a airplane causing a crash isn't exactly great news either -ggg-

I wonder how good bomb detection equipment can work with a crowd of 500,000 people unless everyone has to enter the area through a corridor where the equipment is placed to screen them as they enter?

As for bio-detection equipment. With as many lies as we have been told over the last few months, does anyone really believe that they would let us know if someone released a non immediate affect biotoxin in times square on new years? Give me a break, the panic would be too large. More likely they would wait for everyone to scatter then quietly grab the victims as tehy attempted to go home and escort them off to a facility somewhere for quiet decontamination. Not sure how they would handle any press that was exposed however. Lock them up in isolation "for their own good"? -ggg-

I too hope nothing happens but I added a few puts just in case. -NG-

==============

I added a seasonal trading pattern page this morning that I worked on all day yesterday. There is a link off the main chart page but for quick jump there now, here is a direct link....
marketswing.com

I broke down the market into differing time periods both due to market conditions and to be honest because the trading days matched in these periods as well.

Please Note that the disclaimer at the bottom of the page where I did have to manipulate some data to get the last chart to get the data to line up enough for me to get a 70 year average and the possibility that the recent higher levels of the DOW may have skewed the way the last chart reads. The first 4 charts though are pure and untouched.

I plan on playing with this last chart a bit more by factoring down the recent bull by a constant ratio to see if by making the DOW read in the historical average normal range of around 1500 if the recent trading patterns may lose some weighting and thus give a more true representation of the seasonal patterns over that long a time frame.

I found it interesting that the various bull, bear and flat market conditions brought out very different seasonal patterns. Buy October and sell May is only a recent bull market phenomonon though it does appear no matter what the conditions, January is not a good time to be short.

Anyway, I though I would post it so others could analyze it and provide inputs, feedback and criticisms.

Not much in the news this weekend.

Japan rumored to be devaluing the Yen further which could allow us to print even more money without worry of dollar weakening. Thank god the rest of the world is a bigger mess than we are. We can just keep printing our way out of this without repurcussion.

Spinsters only harping on positives again. Boise Idaho Newspaper had the higher consumer confidence number as the bold type headline in the business section. Had to turn to page 1,978,546 to see the durable goods orders down the toilet and no where did it mention that all the numbers Friday were still below August's numbers before 9-11. I guess even if there is only spit left at the bottom of the glass, the view is still that the cup is half full. -ggg-

Good Luck,

Lee
