<hmmm at the last party I went to I mainly heard about the oppression of minorities in Bangladesh.>

Ramsey Su says Hong Kongese see the world through a rose-coloured wallet... [or was that me who said that Ramsey? ... it's funny talking to somebody like that... it's like talking to a ghost in another dimension, who might or might not be there].

Are there minorities in Bangladesh? Who represses them? It doesn't sound as though there would have been a lot of dancing music at that function...

It's interesting the different approaches to life. In Fiji, I doubt they have heard of shorting long un-hedged dividend-paying gold shares, OR the repressed minorities of Bangladesh. Or even Silicon Investor, crazy as that might seem. Come to think of it, conversations here in Hobbitville wouldn't get far along those lines.

Thanks for the P:E equation. So, throw in the currency devaluation race turbo boost and a P:E of 50 wouldn't be out of the question. That means a Dow of 16,000 is a bargain!

Hi David, <<Bangaladesh>>?? Do they have good eats, choreographed gambling, fast cars, variety of girls, and legalized insider-trading? No? Then do not know that place.

Seriuosly, the HK attitude, rarely if ever talked about at parties, is that each one of us is responsible for our own lot in life, everybody deserves the neighbors (nations, individuals), enemies, friends, governments they have, and if we do not like it, we have a choice (1) end life by (a) pulling plug on self, (b) fight to the death, (2) end unhappiness, by (a) working & saving, (b) stealing & investing, (c) leaving, working stealing and saving, or (d) fighting to leave.

French Creole Hakka Chinese Trinidadians based in HK tend to select 2a, 2c, 2d, 2b, in that sequence, and never (1).
