Dear Kenneth: Excuse me, it was the Senate Democrats who INSISTED on Federalizing the employees, not Bush. However, if you read the entire article you likely should have noticed that if they DIDNT loosen the requirements 1/4 (7,000) screeners would have immediately lost their jobs. Thats a lot to hire and train quickly. Probably an impossible task. Instead they made allowance for EXPERIENCE ie must have AT LEAST 1 years experience as a screener if no HS education. Personally, I can live with that, I dont see where a HS diploma means anything in that job. HORSE SENSE is what they REALLY NEED and sometimes even that is lacking. jdn

"My answer will be to not fly out of protest over this decision"

I guess you'd rather drive and trust your safety to a bunch of other drivers who haven't graduated from grade school.

The education level of screeners is irrelevant. Their dedication and understanding of the importance of the job is relevant. You don't seem to understand the difference. You also don't seem to understand that the screeners had no (zero) culpability in the WTC attacks!

It shows the attitude of the Dem running the Department.

It shows that Dems never change, they offer high costs and low performance.

Department of Transportation (Part of the Bush Administration) has decided not to
require high school graduation for airport screeners.

Many of the greatest failures in history are well educated, but incompetent. See William Jefferson Clinton as an example.
