Combjelly-Yep. Just look at PriceWatch if you don't believe it. Carefully compare the price of Athlon vs. P4 at equivalent clock rates (or even model ratings). Yeah, I know that the OEMs get a better price than what you see on PriceWatch, but the relative price is similar. Consider that the primary source of chips for the gray market (which is what PriceWatch is all about) is OEMs that dump excess stock... “

I don’t know what you are trying to prove with Pricewatch but I can’t see anything that would show that there is large scale dumping of P 4’s. However it is interesting to see the difference in AMD Prices per their price list and what Pricewatch shows for the chip. They are significant. I am not going to show the same comparison for P4 but the average decline for 2.0 to 1.3 is roughly 7%.

Athlon XP prices per AMD

AMD #1.9$269; #1.8 $223; #1.7 $190; #1.6$160; #1.5$130

PW #1.9$236 #1.8 $177 #1.7 $135 #1.6 $116; #1.5$110

Decr (12%) (20%) (28%) 22%) (15%)

You can see that prices on Pricewatch are significantly lower than AMD prices per their price list. Whereas the same condition does not exist for Intel.I will let you draw your own conclusion.
