Intel's chip set business requires 2 chips/CPU - estimating that they ship 30 million CPUs and that they supply 2/3 of the chip sets for their CPUS, that would give them 30 million + 2/3(30 million + 30 million) = 70 million x86 related devices.

Now, add in a million StrongARM processors, Network Processors, many millions of Ethernet chip sets and various other logic devices including i960 embedded controllers, I/O processors and the like, and your 64 million estimate is quite low for one quarter's production from Intel.

Ergo, Intel's fab expenditures are modest when compared to AMD's - according to your logic.
