Hi David...

I'd like to hear about your layoff situation and your feelings about future employment, if you feel like discussing it.

My thesis has been that we have not yet BEGUN to see the impact of layoffs on consumer spending, and considering that the spending by consumers has "saved" this economy...I'm curious as to how the next 6 months will play out.

I know I've pulled in my spending, just based my perception of the concerns of those who have lost their jobs or feel fearful in coming months..

Thanks..

About 40% cash, full margin on the rest. Moving toward 15% cash as market settles.

No Cash, except for wifes monthly allocation into her 401k....but I did zap my margin % down to a very low figure,at beinning of 2001, which has enabled me to buy some of the dips throughout 2001, especially right after the sept 11 attacks....I only hope, that the worst is over and economic recovery actually happens this year....I for one wouldn;t mind seeing my sunw and jdsu a tad bit higher....not to mention many of my others, fdry, extr, atml and hosts and hosts of others.......but, if lower, I guess I will be buying again.....what the $uck, it's only money....can't take it with you when your gone from here......happy and healthy and prosperous new year to all....

how many of you have cash in your trading account?
:o)
Trading account? My entire account has become a trading account except for some bonds and certif of deposits.
Do you still have a "long term hold" portfolio
I got so scared I got out of everything for a while: wish I'd done it when I was still a millionaire.
I have about 60% cash including the certif of deposit.
I do not think the worst is over for the economy but it might be over for the stock market.
I have all different stuff than I had before though, low p/e, small companies (dfxi, cdcy) plus gac.to and brli from Sig's list: his research is awesome.
I still want to own qlgc, but I want it back in the 20's again. This time I'll keep it.
I think.
Are you hurting financially because of the layoff or were you prepared? Or did YOU decide to become unemployed?
What fields are you looking to for future employment?
Happy healthy prosperious New Year to your sweeties and yourself.
