Interesting chart. Format makes it easy to match VIX lows w S&P Highs and VIX highs w S&P lows. Thanks for posting link.

VIX chart seems to telling us to be careful, but did anyone notice that the last several quarters the Markets did well in the latter half of the month beginning each quarter?

JAN 2001 - up in last half of Jan.
APR- ditto
JUL - ditto
OCT - ditto

That tells me that Companies and anlaysts are really trying to manage expectations carefully. Largely they have been successful and we get a little relief rally that lasts a couple weeks or so.

VIX or not I am still hopeful, but cautious. If earnings expectations are really low and we do better than expected we will be fine. We'll have to see how most of the reports come in and how the Market reacts. Of course guidance will be KEY!
