Quarterly Rallies:
Yes, I've noticed such strength, but I would describe it in a slightly different way. The rallies started around the time of the first earnings releases. January 9th, April 5th, July 12th, Oct 10th (with anti-terrorist efforts and terrorism fears diluting the effect).

OCT - ditto>> APR JUL and OCT 2000 were all down in their last half---so i don't see any universal law at work here :) Max plus i think analysts estimates for 2nd quarter on are not conservative,imo.
