What's the deal with fixed fonts that don't auto-word wrap on the screen? Is there a preferences setting on SI to allow these messages to auto-format as the standard messages do?

If not, then I suggest people wrap the formating text they want with the fixed fonts and leave the rest alone.

Mish: The first question anyone must ask: Are we in a bull market or a bear market?

Re: "Q. Is it possible we already had the Jan Effect rally.
A. Why not."

Agreed.

Mish, the January effect is something that is difficult to project into December, as it has a lot to do with IRA's, 401K's and pension fund inflows.

Most of those inflows cannot be advanced (IRA's are pretty specific about that, and 401K's can get maxed out before the end of the year, resuming again at the beginning of the next calendar year). Furthermore, the caps on these are rising in 2002, increasing the potential inflow over last year.

I tend to believe we could have our January effect in the first two weeks of January. Whether that merely helps maintain the range from 1918 to 2012 before a drop remains to be seen.

Thanks for the excellent analysis on the January QQQ options, as I have some of those 40 calls bought yesterday.
