January Effect, IMO

The January Effect is not a description of a rally in January.
The January Effect is the superior performance of a group of stocks over the market's performance.
The group of stocks traditionally subjected to the January Effect are smaller companies
often with poor performance the year before.
The January Effect is the result of tax loss selling in November and December
and Mutual fund window dressing before the end of the quarter.
The superior results in January reflect the rebound from an oversold tax related condition.
