....Note the constant recurring 28 October Date in all but true downward bear markets. Buying on 28 October would yield the best returns while shorting in July and September gave best returns for shorts in most years.

i recall seeing a study a few years back in tasc that came to the same conclusions. they were comparing being long from oct/nov to june, ie buy in oct/nov, close out in june and buy again the following oct/nov, vs a buy and hold strategy. their seasonality study outperformed buy and hold.
