What are your assumptions going into this earning scenario?

I expect the price war to intensify this year.

I expect no business upgrade cycle. Capex spending cuts all over. Including INTC.

I expect layoffs to continue. Housing, Autos, Retail will dump and consumer spending with it.

I expect some charges from INTC. I expect guidance to be avoided for the year. But lowered for this quarter. I expect the stock to be under pressure before and after earnings and find support in the $25 area until the summer.

Things could get dramatically worse if the US Dollar starts to drop hard against the EURO. Money will flow out of equities and T-bills. The markets will be crushed. The feds hands will be tied. Debt issuance will become more expensive. Defaults will continue to rise.

Specifically, do you expect the price war to continue,
and continue with the same intensity? Do you see this
as a duel to death, or do you foresee a strategy shift?

Whose death? AMD would be dead for a long time if Intel decided to really go after them, unless the DOJ intervened. Matter of deep pockets. Of course, things tend to balance out, such that lowered prices in a price war would attract more buying and alleviate the worst of any scorched earth policy on Intel's part. Also, some CPU chip company has to survive to make the chips for the world. Going a little too far with these duel to the death scenarios. We've been through technology changes analogous to 0.13 micron and 300 mm before.
