Re: "That's what makes this intifada particularly idiotic. No, Israel is fighting to survive." If the Intifada is idiotic, then why is it make Israel "fight to survive"? The whole objective of the intifada is the non survival of Israel.

You've got that straight. It's idiotic in terms of the interests of the average Palestinian in peace and prosperity. As you pointed out, the leadership of the Palestinians, and other Arabs, seem willing to sacrifice this in perpetuity to try to destroy Israel.

As Golda Meir said, "We will have peace when the Arabs love their children more than they hate us."

Israel's real problem is not with the local Arab states, as far as the Intifada goes. Their problem is with the rest of the world. All we want is peace, and if some Jews have to live in a nation where they will inevitably eventually be under a Moslem controlled government, it truly doesn't bother us at all.

This wouldn't happen, Bilow. If the Arabs, G-d forbid, should ever destroy Israel, there will be great slaughter and a greater diaspora. The world will wring their hands but do about as much as they did during the Holocaust, which is to say, nothing.

If this result is okay with you then I really have nothing to say.
