rich, this premise does not wash. In your analogy, if God didn't want conservative republicans, there would be none, so they must be good. You're saying everything that's "here" must be good. Crime, war, cancer etc...

From a political perspective, I have the view of the Founders: religion is good insofar as it promotes morality, and bad insofar as it encourages faction. Generally, I think it is benign, but should be criticized when too divisive.

On economic policy, I generally think that we should have a low tax, low regulation environment, for the promotion of efficient business growth. On the environment, I am skeptical of the current environmental organizations. On foreign policy, I think we carry the major burden of the international system, and should act more like a great power, instead of jumping at every adverse editorial in "Le Monde".

I don't like the level of partisanship that is common around here, but, on the other hand, I do not think that it is all the fault of conservatives........
